Bunch Bikes essentially means bringing bikes with baskets that the whole family can ride in together to the US

How did an electric cargo bike company get on Shark Tank? Founder Aaron Powell shares a behind-the-scenes look at the journey and it will enthrall you! On their website, Bunch Bikes says: As North America's largest front-load cargo bike brand, we are forever changing the way that families bike together.

So what really is it? Bunch Bikes essentially means bringing bikes with baskets that the whole family can ride in together to the US. The bikes come with or without electric-assist motors driven by rechargeable batteries.

What is Bunch Bikes?

Designed and built with Dutch craftsmanship, The Bunch Bikes are as beautiful as they are useful to carry a bunch of kids or pets! Calling cargo bikes special, Aaron said on his website: “They changed lives. They brought families together. They had the power to change our cities from the inside-out, and people couldn’t help but talk about them.”

One of the biggest questions on his mind was: If cargo bikes like ours have been popular in Scandinavia for decades, why hadn’t they yet caught on in North America? Coming to ‘Shark Tank’ was a whole process for him and he knew national exposure was going to be an essential part of tipping the scales and bringing the cargo bike lifestyle to the US mainstream.

Who is the founder?

A life-long bike enthusiast, founder Aaron Powell started Bunch Bikes after falling in love with Scandanavian bicycle culture on a family trip to Malmö, Sweden in 2016. It was here he first discovered cargo bikes, and for a whole summer, he rode with his daughter every day just like the locals did.

But after coming back home, Aaron was unable to find a reasonably-priced, quality-made cargo bike to buy for his family. So he made it his mission to share the joy of family biking and bring cargo bikes to North America.

Shedding light on his ‘Shark Tank’ experience, he said the set had been moved to a bubble at The Venetian hotel in Vegas. “While I had originally wanted my family to come with me, we decided that with Covid and quarantine protocols, it would be best if I went on my own. The doors opened and I looked down the hallway and there was Mr Wonderful staring me down. No turning back now!”

What is the cost and where to buy?

The four kinds of Bunch Bikes are The Coupe, The Original, The Pre-School, The K-9 and The Mini. The most sophisticated bike in our fleet, this Dutch-made family cargo bike fits up to 2 kids or dogs and has a slim profile that easily slips through any standard doorway.

Did you know the original 3-wheeled cargo bike features a huge cargo box that can carry up to 4 children plus a week’s worth of groceries? Wow!

The Coupe sells at a whopping $5,999. It comes with safety features like the impact-resistant expanded polypropylene (EPP) cargo box. The Original is priced at $2,999 and it is the ideal beach cruising, school running, grocery getting, quarantine escaping family fun machine. The Pre-School is priced at $4,999, where kids can ride with their friends to the park or library. And you can take your dogs anywhere on The K-9 at just $3,199! Moreover, shipping costs an extra $199.

Where are they now?

Did you know the 'Outdaughtered' crew once used the Bunch Bikes too? Woah! “This has been really interesting and fulfilling,” Powell said in an interview. “I think we’re making an impact on the world in a positive way.”

Back in 2017, the company started selling and by 2019, they had five full-time employees. By then, they had shipped to 45 states and three countries.

The brand is quite a hit with customers and one review on their Instagram page read: “I wanted to let you know that my kids and I adore the bike. It’s hands down my favorite possession. And it brings a smile on the faces of everyone that sees us zipping through town. I get comments about it all the time. Thanks for making such a great product!”

Who will steal the deal?

It's difficult to predict who really would steal the deal but Barbara Corcoran could probably be interested. Or, Daymond John? What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.
