13-year-old found along S. Scott Street succumbs to injuries, 14-year-old in custodyLIMA, OH (WLIO) - A 13-year-old has died after being injured in a large fight in Lima on Friday night. The Lima Police Department was called to the 200 block of South Scott Street around 8:30 p.m. on Friday for reports of a fight and a person being assaulted on the ground. The teenage boy was found unconscious along the street with a head injury. He was taken to Lima Memorial Health System and then later to Nationwide Children's Hospital because of the extent of his injuries. On Monday morning, the 13-year-old succumbed to his injuries. The Franklin County Coroner's Office will examine his body. A 14-year-old suspect was arrested on Saturday and is being held on the charge of delinquency by felonious assault.Lima, OH2 days ago

Lima City Council initiates conversation about changing election and hiring procedures within the Lima City CharterLIMA, OH (WLIO) - On Monday night, Lima City Council began discussion to potentially change certain election and hiring procedures within the City Charter. First, council tackled residency requirements for a city public official office to provide clearer criteria and avoid situations where residency could be questioned. Councilors also conversed about the election timing of council president to provide an equal and fair way for all individuals, regardless of being in an even or odd numbered ward, to run for the presidential seat. Lastly, council addressed the possibility of outside hiring of a police and fire chief. While the Lima Police Department was not in attendance Monday night, the Lima Fire Department provided suggestions on whether a new process is warranted. Accidental cooking fire damages Lima home Sunday afternoonLIMA, OH (WLIO) - A second alarm fire in Lima on Sunday afternoon caused an estimated $60,000 in damage to a home.
